I do know the deflectors that use 3M tape to secure to the hood are horrible! Others my disagree. The P/N I ordered is the replacement for an older version. the one Honda isn't offering anymore.” The one I ordered IS the one by Honda that’s mounted off the hood. If you have a well fitted deflector it prevent some of the - “ I was wanting the model that mounts off the hood. I have seen first hand how over 10s of thousands of miles the leading edge of the hood can get destroyed by all the above from the elements. Love or - “Do they really keep the dead bug splatter down or prevent rock chips?” Good question. I do in fact like the way this OEM Hood Deflector looks! Will this turn out to be a good or bad decision? Time will tell. Here's hoping that with this different design (no 3M tape) I'll have better results. Made a hellova noise but only a very slight mark. Also, a couple of days ago I took a hit from a bouncing stone from the car in front of me. I like having a little protection from those pesky bugs that are not always the easiest things to remove after being baked on. TODAY I Learned, Never say, "Never again"
I swore never again would I add something like to any vehicle I owned. It was a lot cheaper and covered up the same damaged area. I opted to, yes you guessed it, put on the same defector. I considered going to my local auto body paint shop and have it repaired - too expensive. Along the entire nose where the deflector had been it was pitted with small marks. To my horror (might be too strong of a word) the nose of my black truck looked like it had been sand blasted. Good news! Bad news, as the deflector was not completely sealed against the truck the wind had blown sand between the deflector and the paint. When I got home I was able to remove it w/o damaging the paint where the tape had been. Drove it to work that day and watched it flap in the wind.
BEST BUG DEFLECTOR CRACK
Mid Feb when it was below zero I go out to the garage and notice a big 6 inch diagonal crack on the driver's side. I don't remember the name brand but it was a popular one used by the Colorado gang. The first one I had was one of those peel and stick on kind using 3M tape.
I had a bug/rock deflector (or whatever you want to call it) on my 2018 Colorado. This replaces the -100 P/N that has been discontinued. I just purchased the OEM Air Deflector, Hood - Honda (08P47-TG7-102)for my 2019.
